In her latest book, The Calories In Calories Out Cookbook: The Toolkit You Need to Make Smart Calorie Decisions Every Day, she and Elaine Trujillo, MS, RDN, have designed a truly ingenious and easily accessible approach to cooking, eating, and exercising.

Catherine’s commitment to healthy food started in 2003 with the first edition of Eating for Pregnancy: The Essential Nutrition Guide and Cookbook for Today’s Mothers-to-Be, winner of the Mom’s Choice Award. After her mother’s heart attack, she partnered with Elaine to pen Eating for Lower Cholesterol: A Balanced Approach to Heart Health with Recipes Everyone Will Love, praised by NYT best-selling author, Dr. Mehmet Oz. The true roots of her writing career began with her multi award-winning, self-published first book, A Year of Russian Feasts.

Catherine’s love affair with food began early in life. She’ll tell you that the seeds were planted in New Delhi, India, where she was born. Soon after receiving her degree in psychology from Connecticut College, she pursued her true passion and attended La Varenne Culinary School in France. She spent the next four years working in restaurants, training under two Two-Michelin Star chefs, Alain Coumont, of Le Pain Quotidien fame, and the late Jean-Louis Palladin.

In 2013, Catherine and Elaine co-founded the non-profit organization, Share Your Calories. They created a unique app for users to track their calories and share the extras through social giving. She is the mother of two teenage children.
